— Daily Journal Entry 012 —
Now that AI is on the scene, why bother creating music? I’ve actually purchased a SUNO AI subscription and have had a go at prompting out some “original” music. Just to say that I’ve tried it (even though I paid for the premium plan). And the quality of the recordings is something I cannot match, at least, not at present in my split-level home basement.
That being said, after listening to the results of the few tracks I’ve “written,” they tend to sound the same in a lot of respects. To start off, as I’ve already said, they are quite polished, which in an of itself, is a tall tale sign of AI production at work.
Also, along with the overall audio production quality, there’s the singer(s) that never, ever, even attempts to miss a note. I mean, the results are “perfect.” Using the word, perfect, is putting it lightly. Some of you may feel the same. However……….
This perfection has driven me away from anything AI-related (I’m still into AI visuals in some regard, but the outputs are still, sort of, stolen – another discussion). I just want to hear real musicians attempting to record real music.
Yes, we’ve had synthesizers and drum machines for quite some time now, but there’s still quite a lot of musician involvement when it comes to incorporating these devices, these instruments, into our workflow.
And, Logic Pro has had “session players” for a while now; however, these players are still following, at least, one track created by a musician (in most cases). It’s ‘kind of” generated, but no where near the same thing as prompting a piece of music, in my opinion.
Until Next Time,

Note: These “Daily Journal Entries” are part of a mini blog within the main blog where I make every effort to publish a 250+ word post per day on top of the regular, longer posts. The idea is to just create a daily habit of publishing written content. And also, to try and become a better overall writer… We’ll see…
