SARDINES… NOT Liked So Much, BUT OH SO GOOD FOR YOU

— Daily Journal Entry 011 —

Most of us have heard the term, or phrase, “Super Food.” One food that I think makes it to the top of the list (without much researching here) is sardines. Any form of sardines really. When I say, any form, I simply mean whether in water, extra virgin olive oil, mustard, tomato sauce…. Whatever. I’m also talking about the everyday, canned sardines. I don’t know even know how to go about acquiring freshly caught sardines…?…

These things apparently are packed with nutrients AND very high in protein. You can also eat them skin, bones, and all. I have done some level of my own googling in the past once I became aware of their nutritious value and came across many-a-story where certain well-to-do folks have shared their experiences with adding sardines to their diets.

Ok, I had to google a little for this short posts as well to remember one person’s name, Craig Cooper (I just googled, “business man who ate sardines everyday”). This was probably the first article that got me interested. But eating five cans a day…. Only in preparation for an event or something. Couldn’t see doing that all the time.

Then there’s Joe Rogan. Apparently, he gave himself arsenic poisoning from eating too many sardines. Yes, all fish have some level of arsenic and mercury; however, these fish are considered to be the ones with the lowest amounts due to how small they are and how short their life spans are. The longer a fish is alive swimming in our contaminated waters, the more mercury is acquires and passes on to use through ingestion…

Maybe I will be able to try writing some song lyrics again by consuming more of this power house of a food source. Or, perhaps just be able comprehend the guitar and piano a bit easier and quicker… Who knows… Beats some of the other parts of my not-so healthy (sometimes…) diet.

Overall, if you are like me and don’t mind the taste, try adding these bad boys to your diet on occasion. Try adding just regular Frech’s Yellow Mustard for taste. Ask you doctor if you feel there could a conflict with your current health condition.
