Not that this is the best photo of all time, or anything, but I do think the ironic depiction is pretty cool. That moose is going to do whatever she wants. “ONE WAY, SCHMONE WAY… I’m going my way…”
This was the first time I had ever been to Alaska. I was traveling for work and stayed at Joint Base Elmendorf / Richardson (JBER) in Anchorage, Alaska, for two weeks. I took this photo on my first day there. I had just visited the postal exchange, or PX, as we all refer to it. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, I got to see my first moose. So, I tried my best to snap a few photos without causing unnecessary harm to myself or others.
To be perfectly honest here, I did not notice the moose was walking the “wrong way.” It wasn’t until after I returned to the on-base billeting and started going through the photos that I realized it. I think it cropped fairly nicely. One of those “happy accidents,” I guess.
I went on to see a few more moose while I was there. I biked the short 22-mile (if you go down and back) Anchorage Coastal Trail. It’s also referred to as, The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. There are lots of places to rent a bike along the coast, and the trail starts right behind the bike rental shop I rented from.
