Is Writing 250 Words Per Day A Worthy Goal

— Daily Journal Entry 027 —

Having a plan to write 250 words-per-day is (I guess) a respectable goal. I mean, I’m certainly nowhere close to being a professional writer, but I DO like the idea of becoming a better writer. Even that notion seems a bit far off at the moment. But that is why I’m embarking on this quest… This writing journey of sorts…

Minimum 250 Words Per Day

You have to start somewhere. So, the plan is to write 250 words per day sticking as closely as possible to the subject areas of writing and recording music and / or content creation in general. I will NOT be “free writing,” meaning writing in a “stream of consciousness” sort of way, but I also will NOT be researching / verifying all that much either. Some… yes, but not a lot…

Publishing on X & Substack

The plan is also to post a brief daily summary to my X account, not necessarily for exposure, but rather just to get used to putting more content, good or bad, “out there.” I will also post a “Weekly Roll-up” on Substack (Which I will take the time to process through Grammarly for a slightly improved version – still my content). Not so sure these are the greatest of ideas, but since I don’t really have an over-arching idea of what to do with my writing, I’m just throwing it around for now…

Friends Might See

Friends and / or past acquaintances may come across this stuff and say to themselves, “why on earth does he bother,” and maybe even feel a little embarrassed for me. If that’s the case, then so be it… At the end of the day, I’m only shooting for the next 365 days. That’s it. I’m just trying to fulfill a goal of writing 250 words per day for one year.

A Book in the Making

Writing this amount equals 91,250 words in one year, which apparently is the equivalent of your basic novel. Now, since my writing isn’t being focused towards the writing of a novel, I don’t see an actual novel being accomplished at the end of this endeavor, but I DO hope to have learned a thing or two that will help make that happen one day… Who knows…

To be continued…

Until Next Time,

Note: These “Daily Journal Entries” are part of a mini blog within the main blog where I make every effort to publish a 250+ word post per day on top of the regular, longer posts. The idea is to just create a daily habit of publishing written content. And also, to try and become a better overall writer… We’ll see…
