Audio Quality Woes

— Daily Journal Entry 024 —

To be perfectly honest (not that I would normally be dis-honest, on purpose), I have complete faith in my ability to occasionally come up with a pretty good musical idea, whether on guitar, or piddling around on the keys; however, I still worry about the audio quality of any future recording. Afterall, if your “niche” is music, and / or audio-related, the audio should be pretty dawgone good. In my opinion, I feel like more attention to the audio production is expected from you on YouTube and other social media platforms than from non-audio-related channels.

Consistent Practice Is The Key

I know that the only way to get over that is to just continue writing and recording. Practice is the only way towards mastery of anything. Sure, there’s underlying talent, but dare I say: “practice makes perfect.” Getting my hands dirty in the DAW is the only way I’ll overcome this fear.

But I’ll do it. I’ll get in there and start creating more of what I know I can do. I’ll pick out an idea and run with it. I’ll connect the microphones to my Steinberg UR-RT2 audio interface, fire up Logic Pro and prep a few different types of tracks (audio, software instrument, etc.), program some drums to said idea, lay down a rough draft of the idea, and go from there…

Added Pressure

The difficult part about recording the music is that its always in the back of my mind that since I’m trying to run a YouTube channel as well, I’ll eventually need to create the video portions and sync everything up.

Until Next Time,

Note: These “Daily Journal Entries” are part of a mini blog within the main blog where I make every effort to publish a 250+ word post per day on top of the regular, longer posts. The idea is to just create a daily habit of publishing written content. And also, to try and become a better overall writer… We’ll see…

    — Daily Journal Entry 023 — I’m talking about the old TDK, Memorex and BSAF cassette tapes that I used to use for 4-track cassette tape recording on my Tascam Porta 05 multitrack recorder. • Getting and Staying Organized Can Be Challenging

    — Daily Journal Entry 028 — When it comes to writing and recording music in the home studio, there are a variety of challenges that await each musician. • Forgiving Yourself When You Miss Your Goal

    — Daily Journal Entry 035 — OK, I knew this would happen eventually.  I set out on a reasonable and respectable goal to write at least 250+ words per day for the next 365 days, and I’ve already missed a couple of days… twice, so four days in total. I’ve asked myself: should I just…
