— Daily Journal Entry 022 —
I wish I would have the same level energy in my would-be home studio as I used to have at creating potential “album art” back in the day. I mean, I had no problem spending time on the things that really just didn’t matter thinking the whole while that I was “doing something.” When in actually, I was just procrastinating either out of fear that I wasn’t going to produce a piece of music that was good enough, or I just felt at the time it didn’t really matter and shooting slopy photographs was easier. I guess a little of both emotions at times…
Sure, trying to come up with a good idea for the visual side of things is important, but it really just doens’t matter if there’s no spirit… no blood, sweat, and tears behind the actual music. But making some of these photos was fun to say the least. I just wish I could point to a more serious attepmt at creating some music to go along with ir, or a recording of another live performance, or something… any piece of audio…
I had some decent ideas for photos I think. Not that I was able to pull them off on a regular basis, but there was (something) there underneath… I normally seem to go for the dingy, gritty, dusty approach as you (may) can tell from the featured image, which includes me sitting on my Music Man HD-150 Reverb head box playing my Black (used to be candy apple red) Japan made Squire with all positioned on some active train tracks. Maybe not the safest idea in the world. I found some discarded licquor bottles thinking that added some personality, but its certainly not a personality I would want to project these days (the featured image was taken probably in 1990?)…
At any rate, these efforts should’ve been put into the music rather than the photographs. What’s the point of having the (any) cool music related photographs if there’s no music to go along with them.

Note: These “Daily Journal Entries” are part of a mini blog within the main blog where I make every effort to publish a 250+ word post per day on top of the regular, longer posts. The idea is to just create a daily habit of publishing written content. And also, to try and become a better overall writer… We’ll see…
