The Simplicity of a Pocket Knife

— Daily Journal Entry 007 —

The pocketknife is about the simplest tool there is. They come in all shapes and sizes, but I’m primarily talking about the one, or two (maybe three), blade knives that you can fold, not push a button or flick it open with your thumb. So, I’m not talking about automatic, or thumb assisted opening knives, which are cool, but they’re in another altogether different category(s).

But a simple, folding pocketknife. One that you may have received from your grandfather back in the day. Mine gave me handful of them over the years, to include the two “Schrade Old Timers” in the featured photo for this post.

Your basic pocketknife has but one purpose – To cut something. I guess you could divide the act of cutting into a few subcategories like prying and poking. We’ve all needed a pocketknife at one point in our lives. Some people use a knife of some sort every day. But all of us occasionally use one to open a box (amazon package), cut some sort of cord, or string (if you can’t find some scissors), peel an apple, use as an improvised crewdriver, scrape off some old, sticky residue, etc. … They’re just handy to have around.

I think everyone should have a pocketknife somewhere nearby. Or some sort of knife. If you are like me, you have one available in multiple locations… They come in all shapes and sizes too. Man, or woman, doesn’t matter. There’s a pocketknife out there for everyone.

Until Next Time,

The idea is to just create a daily habit of publishing written content. And also, to try and become a better overall writer… We’ll see…

    — Daily Journal Entry 028 — When it comes to writing and recording music in the home studio, there are a variety of challenges that await each musician. • Is Writing 250 Words Per Day A Worthy Goal

    — Daily Journal Entry 027 — Having a plan to write 250 words-per-day is (I guess) a respectable goal. I mean, I’m certainly nowhere close to being a professional writer, but I DO like the idea of becoming a better writer. Even that notion seems a bit far off at the moment. But that is…
